Ready for Summer!

The end of the school year is a busy time for The Golden Apple. We see lots of parents looking for workbooks and activities to keep kids on track over the summer months. Andy Z and James K Concerts

We are hosting two free shows this June to celebrate the warm evenings and happy days of summer. On June 13th, at 5 pm come see Andy Z perform. Andy visits us several times each year, and every visit is packed! On June 26th We have James K performing rocking our house at 6 pm. Reward Cards and Mouse Pad Calendars

Which is better first, the good news or the bad? Let's be positive and go with the good... Our Good Teacher Discount Cards will be available June 15th. If you are not familiar with these cards more information is here. Don't forget to bring in your card for your last spring discount - we put it in a drawing for a $25 gift card.
Now the bad news, our big CTP calendars that we give out every year to our teachers have been discontinued! Shipping and printing costs got too high for CTP, so they have replaced them with mouse pad calendars! These are very cute, a perfect size and will be available starting around July 1st, while supplies last!

Hacienda Field Trip

The Golden Apple received a visit last week from Hacienda School. The kindergarten class is learning about money and stores, and they stopped in to our store to learn about what it is we do. We read a few stories, took a tour of the different areas of the store and played a very fun money game. Then it was time to shop! Everyone spent a dollar and got the correct change!

Story of the Golden Apple

Last issue we asked what the big event was that opened our new location in 2000. The Answer was Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. We had the brilliant idea of preselling the books at our old location and then making everyone come to our new store to pick them up. Unfortunately, the Friday night delivery of 300 books didn't arrive! After a very frantic and nerve wracking scramble the books were delivered at 9:00 am Saturday July 7th, and our store opened at 10 am with a line out the door!
Thanks to the many responders - the winning answer came from Stacy Nobriga!

Keeping to our store opening in 2000. We did end up opening in fits and starts over the course of that summer. In fact, we spent the first three months lacking an important feature - one that sent more than a few of our younger customers running! Do you know what was missing?
